It was in 1581 that Catherine de Medici brought the first macaroons from Italy for the wedding of Duke Anne de Joyeuse with Marguerite de Lorraine. The recipe was so popular that it has endured to this day. Gourmets will appreciate the crunchiness and the strong almond taste of these delicious macaroons.
